    Hmmmm....
Jolie Bonnette: It's an interesting concept. However I have to wonder why any alien species would be using images specific to Terran Christianity. Being alien, it seems unlikely to me they'd do that. Afterall, even here on Earth the differences in religious icons is quite distinct from region to region and by time period and sect as well. I would imagine it to be moreso when you crossed galactic lines. (And yes, I'm being geeky and nitpicky. *chuckle* Religion is one of those subjects I'm like that about.) Your art's interesting, though.

    Not all are open-minded.
H.G.Potter: These are troubling for Christian Orthodox and Catholic folk, since for the most part these images are drawn from their traditions. It is not right that you should render images so reminicent but distorted. Christ was a human, but you have depicted him as an alien. It hurts very much. Please consider if you will remove them.

    Not to offend
Laramie Sasseville: I realized when I created these icons that some people might find them offensive. These are the people who most need to see that the values represented by Christ and the Virgin mother are not limited to the traditional imagery. The images become 'graven images' and idols when they are counted as more sacred than the values they represent. It is those values that I am honoring by reminding viewers that they can apply even in worlds far beyond our familiar one.

    interesting thought
H.G.Potter: Thank you for replying to my comment. You have made an interesting point and I feel better. Perhaps you are not being sacreligious. I only think that since the images were originally done in a human historic context, they should be left that way.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one: altering the historic image is precisely what conveys the message I intend for these new images.
