Swamp Lotus Series

Swamp Lotus Series

The "Venusian Swamp Lotus" series is one of many series of works in which Ehlenberger explores a fantasy world of Venusian flora and fauna.

The Swamp Lotus Series is characterized by an open blown-glass form with a single hand-blown neon element emerging from the center.

Like his other Venusian Flora, it can be mounted in a variety of wood or aluminum bases designed for single or multiple Flora. They may also be incorporated into small or large scale "Venusian Garden" installations.

The Venusian Flora Series of sculptures are Ehlenberger's fantasy interpretation of luminous plant life on Venus. With "petals" of aluminum and luminous "flowers" of neon, these fantasy flora come in a variety of sizes, including wall and suspended versions.

The neon tubes are all easily removable via quick-connect mechanisms to allow for easy shipping or replacement.

Venusian Landscape Series

Venusian Landscape Series

This series of sculptures in Ehlenberger's "Venusian World" explores fantasy Landscapes with luminous vegetation, glowing lakes and craggy mountains. His distinctive approach to the Landscape incorporates such media as silicone, translucent paint on brushed aluminum and back-lit lenses to evoke an other-worldly ambience.

Some landscapes are executed in the traditional western horizontal format. However, as a consequence of Ehlenberger's love of ancient Chinese and Japanese landscape painting presented in a vertical format, he began exploring landscapes in an Asian style.

Subsequently Ehlenberger also developed his own, unique approach to the Landscape, the "discScape". A small manifestation of the Landscape, only 16" in diameter, its shape alludes to the spherical shape of the planet.
