A theoretical Anatomy of a Centaur that I decided to
model as Chiron the teacher of heroes in Greek
myth. I pictured him as a grizzled and scarred old
warrior. The main problem I could see in anatomy
for a centaur is where the human and equine
halves meet. I created in my mind a floating
pelvis at the meeting point that is like a slice off
of the top of the human pelvis roughly 3 inches
deep which sprouts off two welded spine sections
just ahead of the shoulder blades. You can see
where the muscles of the human torso anchor
to it.

Hello all, It has been a long time since I last did any Artwork. The combination of disappointment at not being able to make a living from my Art and then my job as a fire truck maintenance mechanic for twenty years taking a lot of my energy out by the end of the day made me let it slide. I retired last year and have more time now so I am joining DeviantART to share my old work with the community of artists and hopefully prod me off my lazy ass so I will take up my sculpture tools again. The main reason I could not make a living of my work is the style that I settled on as most pleasing to me was just to time consuming and meticulous. The Unicorn sculpture took 3-1/2 months with doing each hair over the whole body.the popular figurine companies could not wait that long when they showed me a drawing of what they wanted. Joe
