Hello and thanks for your interest in my artwork =) Here is just a little bit about myself.
I am Julia Finucane, the artist who creates all the art in this gallery. I have been creating art since I was a little girl. I have had a love for fantasy and fairy tales since I was young. My favorite books and movies were Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, and Cinderella. I still love the fantasy world and I feel my art represents these themes with a story behind each piece.
I love to read fantasy book as well as watch these sorts of movies. I am a huge fan of Harry Potter and love the Vampire books by Ann Rice. Oh and as of right now my favorite show is Vampire Diaries, which I'll admit I am a little obsessed with. =)
Before I started my art as a career, I attended The State University College at Buffalo where I received a Bachelors in Fine Arts and Art Education. I also received a Masters in Art and Computer Design.
The themes that are dominant in my artwork are whimsical based and combine reality and the fantasy world. Like I said before, I have always been interested in fantasy and fairy tales and I like to incorporate these stories into my work. I also get inspiration and ideas from events that happen in my everyday life which I include in my artwork as well. I work with many mediums, but acrylics are most dominant in my pieces. I use a lot of metaphoric symbols and colors to show emotion and to portray the stories I am telling. All my pieces have stories behind them, but I encourage everyone to interpret their own stories from my pieces.
